Beach engagement shoots in Vancouver are one of my absolute favourites, no matter the time of day. I’ll never say no to a good sunset over the ocean. I love getting to the beach just as the sun starts to turn orange. The light is soft, warm, and so flattering. If we stay a little longer, blue hour follows, which is one of the most underrated and beautiful times of day for engagement photos. Everything feels quieter, calmer, and effortlessly romantic.
Spanish Banks offers something a little more dramatic with its rocks to climb on and a spacious, curved sandy beach. You also get that breathtaking backdrop of the mountains meeting the water. The beach is big enough to feel private, even when it’s busy, giving you plenty of space to move around and capture dynamic shots.

Jericho is one of my favourites for its wide, open beach and scattered logs that make for fun, playful poses. There’s also a grassy patch right by the sand, perfect for running around, sitting, or just enjoying some quiet moments together. It’s relaxed, charming, and feels classic Vancouver.

Kits Beach is full of energy and personality. The sand, water, and nearby greenery create lots of options for playful, candid moments. Its classic Vancouver charm is perfect for couples who want photos that feel alive, vibrant, and full of life.

Cates Park has the perfect mix of beach vibes and lush greenery. You get soft sand to play around on, gorgeous water views, and park paths lined with trees that make for dreamy, natural backdrops. It’s easy to wander between the beach and the greenery for a variety of photos in one session.

Wreck Beach is a little more adventurous. You descend steep stairs to reach the sand, which makes the beach feel tucked away and private. The natural cliffs and rock formations are incredible for unique, artistic shots. And while it’s known as a nudist beach, that doesn’t take away from its stunning scenery — you’ll still find plenty of beautiful, discreet spots for your session.
